A fatal crash was reported at 11:39 a.m. Jan. 22 on I-435 near Kansas Avenue in Edwardsville, Kan.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, it was a one-car accident.
A 1999 Toyota Corolla driven by 67-year-old Richard E. Meuten, Lenexa, Kan., was southbound on I-435 when it crossed the median, crossed through the northbound lanes, went over the Kansas Avenue northbound ramp, down the other side of the ramp and struck a tree head on, according to the trooper's report.
The driver was taken to a hospital, according to the report. He was wearing a seat belt.
