A home fire at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at 203 N. 14th is under investigation, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.
Firefighters tried to save two dogs who were in the home at the time of the fire. One dog succumbed to injuries, and another was driven by family members to the veterinarian for further treatment, according to the spokesman for the Fire Department. The family was not in the home during the fire.
The fire at the two-story single-family residence was brought under control within 15 minutes.
The Red Cross was called to help two adults and four children, who include two girls ages 10 and 5, and two boys ages 2 and 1. There were no injuries reported.
The estimated damage to the home and its contents was $45,000.
