A man in his 50s drowned this afternoon at Big Eleven Lake, 1060 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan.
A spokesman for the Fire Department stated that when rescue crews arrived two minutes after the call, they were told the victim had gone into the lake for a swim, went under and did not come back up.
Three rescue swimmers entered the lake to look for the victim in the last known location, according to the spokesman.
The victim was located about nine minutes after the rescue swimmers entered the water, the spokesman said.
The drowning scene was then turned over to the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Department, which oversees the Wyandotte County Parks and lakes.
