Unified Government Commissioner Ann Brandau Murguia is expected to be one of the appointees named by Gov. Sam Brownback to the Kansas Board of Regents on Thursday morning.
Murguia said she was very excited about the pending appointment.
The Board of Regents oversees the state’s public universities, including the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, Pittsburg State, and other state universities, as well as the state’s community colleges, including Kansas City Kansas Community College.
Murguia has a bachelor’s degree in human services from Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kan., and a master’s of business administration degree from Baker University, Baldwin City, Kan. She is the executive director of the Argentine Neighborhood Development Association in Kansas City, Kan.
The governor is expected to announce three appointments to the Board of Regents Thursday morning at a news conference at Kansas State University, Manhattan.
The Board of Regents has nine members who are appointed by the governor to serve staggered four-year terms.
