The westbound Central Avenue Viaduct right through lane just before the traffic signal located at the entrance ramp to eastbound I-70 in Wyandotte County is now closed for emergency bridge deck repair work.
The closure is 24/7 round the clock, beginning today, Wednesday, July 17, through Monday, July 22, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, July 18, the eastbound and westbound Central Avenue to eastbound I-70 ramp movements will also be closed to all traffic so crews can complete the bridge deck repair work.
No marked detour will be provided during the ramp closure. Drivers should expect some delays through the project work zone and should allow extra time for their daily commutes, according to KDOT.
The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and slow down when approaching and driving through the project work zone, a spokesman said.
