A big power outage was being reported Wednesday south of State Avenue in Kansas City, Kan.
About 4,900 customers were without power on Wednesday at 11:43 a.m., according to an outage map on the BPU website, www.bpu.com. Power was restored within the hour.
The outage area stretched from a little south of State Avenue to a little north of K-32, from the downtown area to near 38th Street, according to the outage map.
BPU spokesman David Mehlhaff said power was restored around 12:37 p.m., fairly quickly, after the power outage.
He said some equipment problems at the Muncie substation knocked power out. The BPU is currently trying to find out what exactly caused the outage.
Kansas City, Kan., City Hall was without power briefly, he added. The BPU administrative offices on Minnesota Avenue had power.
