Election Commissioner Bruce Newby today stated that he has just received authorization from the Kansas secretary of state to extend advance voting hours until 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25.
Originally advance voting was scheduled to close at noon Monday in advance of Tuesday's election.
Many voters are trying to vote in advance today, as a major winter storm warning is in effect for Wyandotte County on election day.
Advance voting is taking place at the election office, 850 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Registered voters should bring an approved photo identification, such as a driver's license, with them.
Five candidates are running in the Unified Government mayoral primary, on all ballots in Wyandotte County. There are three Unified Government contests on the ballot, in different districts, the 2nd at large, the 1st and the 8th districts.
