Two right lanes on eastbound I-70 over the 38th Street bridge in Wyandotte County will be closed for pavement repair work beginning Sunday evening, June 16.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, the repair work will start at 7 p.m. June 16 and the highway will reopen to unrestricted traffic sometime on Thursday, June 20, weather permitting.
Lane and ramp closures have been scheduled during the repair work, around the clock. The closures include:
- Eastbound I-70 right two lanes over the 38th Street Bridge.
- Northbound I-635 to eastbound I-70 ramp.
- Eastbound I-70 to 38th Street ramp.
Advance message boards will alert traffic to the lane and ramp closures, according to KDOT. A marked detour will be provided during the ramp closure.
Drivers should expect major delays during peak commute times and must use alternate routes during the ramp closures, according to KDOT. Updated daily traffic information for this project can be viewed online at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.
The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and slow down when approaching and driving through the project work zone, the spokesman said.
