After a two-year layoff, fans have requested the return of the Thanksgiving Breakfast Dance at the Kansas National Guard Armory, 18th and Ridge, on Nov. 24. Doors open at 9 a.m.
This historic and traditional event will benefit reStart, Inc., an interfaith ministry committed to providing shelter and supportive services to homeless citizens in the Kansas City area.
This year’s lineup includes legendary blues artist Mel Waiters, who is known for hits, “Hole in the Wall,” “Got My Whisky,” “Hit it and Quit It,” and “Smaller the Club.”
The co-headliner is “queen of blues” Denise LaSalle, who recorded many hit songs including “Down Home Blues,” “Trapped by a Thing Called Love,” “Drop That Zero” and “Your Husband is Cheatin’ on Us.”
Also, Kansas City’s very own D.C. Bellamy and Milage Gilbert will be performing.
Customers will be treated to live music provided by the band Tutt and the Soul Sensations and a live DJ playing old school, Motown, line dancing and rhythm and blues.
Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Reserved seating is $50. For more information call 816-353-4373 or visit www.ticketkc.com.
