The National Weather Service says there is a 50 percent chance of rain tonight in Kansas City, Kan.
In late afternoon, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and storms, with the chances increasing tonight. But most rain will probably fall south of I-70, the weather service stated.
As of 3:30 p.m. Friday, the storms appeared to be south and east of the Kansas City area. Another large area of storms was located to the north in Nebraska and Iowa. Large hail, damaging rain and heavy rain is possible with some storms.
On Saturday night, there's a 40 percent chance of storms and on Sunday, a 50 percent chance. Localized flooding could be possible Sunday through Thursday.
The chance of rain and storms continues through the next week, according to the weather service.
The area had about a half-inch of rain about 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, according to weather service data.
