Motorcycle fundraiser Sept. 11 for cancer patient

A fundraiser for Scott Neal, “Ride for Big Scott,” will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11.
Neal, 35, was stricken this year by brain cancer, and his friends are raising funds with the benefit motorcycle ride to pay for his medical and hospital expenses, according to Tracy Buck, a friend. Neal did not have health insurance.
Neal, a Piper High School graduate, has been hospitalized for brain surgery and is undergoing radiation treatments, according to Buck.
The benefit motorcycle ride starts at 1 p.m. at Johnnie’s West, Kansas City, Kansas. Registration begins at 11 a.m. After leaving Johnnie’s West, the ride will proceed to Kobi’s in Bonner Springs, Slow Ride in Lawrence, Helen’s Hilltop in Tonganoxie, Fat Heads in Leavenworth and end at Johnnie’s West. A barbecue is planned at Johnnie’s West when the ride is completed.
The entry fee for the ride is $20 per bike, and also, there is a $20 per person fee for those going on a bus or by car. All proceeds will go toward Neal’s expenses, Buck said.
For more information about the fundraiser, contact Buck at 816-270-0801.
