Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas' new La Luz Center for Immigration Legal Assistance will hold an open house to launch the new clinic on Thursday, Sept. 30.
The community is invited to attend the open house, tour the offices and learn more about the new program and services it will offer the immigrant community in need.
La Luz Center will provide low cost immigration legal services to the foreign-born population, including "know your rights" consultations, naturalization, and other immigration services.
The clinic name La Luz, which means "the light" in Spanish, offers help to new U.S. residents who feel as if they are "living in the shadows," in need of assistance.
"These are people who wanted a better life for their children and now they're forced to live in the shadows," said Greg Bole, attorney, La Luz Center. "Anything we can do to make their daily lives better, to bring them light, is extremely important."
The open house will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, 2220 Central , Kansas City, Kansas. For more information, contact Greg Bole at 913-621-5255 Ext. 1106 or
