Dr. Barry Kaplan of the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md., will visit Bishop Ward High School at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13.
Dr. Kaplan’s talk is part of Bishop Ward’s Science Lecture Series, which features notable figures of the medical and science worlds who share their personal stories of how they got from high school to where they are today. Dr. Kaplan will speak about his experiences as well as share information on his particular area of expertise and encourage our students to consider careers in the sciences.
Dr. Kaplan is the director of fellowship training at the National Institute of Mental Health’s research division. Prior to coming to the NIMH in 1997, he served as the director of the Molecular Neurobiology and Genetics Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
“We are honored to have Dr. Kaplan visit our school,” Bishop Ward president, the Rev. Michael Hermes, said. “He is an excellent inspiration to our students considering a career in the sciences.”
