Kansas City, Kansas, shows a slight increase in population – about 1,000 persons more, according to population estimates for 2009 recently released by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The population estimate for Kansas City, Kansas, for July 1, 2009, was 143,209, according to the census bureau.
The previous population estimate here was 142,231 for July 1, 2008.
The difference is 978 additional residents, according to the estimates.
The city has shown a decline of around 3,600 residents since the 2000 census, according to census estimates. But the trend has been an increase in population every year since 2006.
The census estimates do not contain the results of the 2010 federal census. Those results are expected to be released later in the year.
