Police chased a vehicle Friday night that went the wrong way on Parallel Parkway and crashed into a light pole and two sign poles near 27th and Parallel Parkway, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The trooper’s report stated that about 5:41 p.m. Feb. 3, Kansas City, Kan., police initiated a pursuit at 32nd and Lafayette and ended it at 32nd and Parallel Parkway.
A 1998 Acura was driving erratically eastbound on Parallel Parkway when the driver lost control, traveling onto a raised concrete median, according to the trooper’s report
The Acura then collided with a light pole and traveled eastbound in the westbound lane of Parallel Parkway, the trooper’s report stated.
The vehicle then struck a sign pole at the intersection of 27th and Parallel, then traveled across the intersection, striking a second sign, and continuing off the road to the right. It came to rest in a raised grass median just east of the 27th and Parallel intersection, according to the trooper’s report.
The trooper’s report stated that the occupants fled on foot.
The accident report lists the driver as a Kansas City, Kan., male. The second person in the vehicle, a 19-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman, was injured and taken to a hospital, according to the report.
A 3-year-old and a 9-month-old in the vehicle were not hurt, the report stated.
