The UAW Local 31 workers at the General Motors Fairfax plant on Thursday reportedly voted 90 percent in favor of authorizing a strike.

   The vote, according to the union's website, is not a vote to go out on strike, but a vote to authorize the bargaining committee to call for a strike, if necessary, while negotiating a local agreement.

   Earlier, union members there voted down a local agreement.
