Police said the shooting of three youths in Argentine on Monday night was gang-related, and that an arrest has been made.
At last night's Argentine neighborhood association meeting at El Centro’s Argentine location, police discussed gang activity in the area. On hand was Capt. Victor Webb of the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.
Last Monday there was a shooting in the area. It was confirmed by Capt. Webb that the shooting was gang-related. Capt. Webb said, ”They have arrested a suspect regarding the shooting but did not give the name of the suspect. That information will be released soon by the Police Department.”
The suspects were from outside the Argentine area.
On Wednesday there was also a shooting in the Argentine area. However, according to Capt. Webb, they do not know if that shooting was gang-related or not.
Gang activity is low in the Argentine area, according to Webb. The reason gang activity is low is the Argentine area is a prime example of where the Police Department and the citizens work together. The citizens assist through neighborhood watches and are the eyes and ears for the Police Department, according to Webb.
Webb encouraged people to call the Police Department immediately if they see anything out of the ordinary. “I really want to praise you all for what you have done,” Capt. Webb said.
