Health Department busy with school vaccinations
The Unified Government is reporting that vaccinations are up at the UG Health Department as Kansas City, Kansas, schoolchildren are brought up to date on their shots.
About 479 children received an average of three vaccinations per child at the Health Department from Aug. 16 to Sept. 1, the UG reported. It’s twice as much as the department’s capacity.
Helped by volunteers from the Johnson and Douglas County health departments, the KU Department of Family Medicine, and temporary reassignments from the UG’s Health Department staff, the department has been able to help meet the needs.
School officials have said that 1,598 students are out of compliance with the required immunizations, the UG reported.
