A new religious film includes an appearance by a Kansas City, Kan., resident.
The film, “A Necessary God,” will have its premiere at 7 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W. 47th St., Kansas City, Mo. It is a production of “NlightN Films,” a Kansas-based film company.
The faith-based documentary is about the lives of people who suffered through unimaginable hardships, loss and suffering, and through their faith found salvation and hope.
The film was shot primarily in the Kansas City area, and surrounding areas including Joplin, Mo.
The film’s purpose, according to filmmakers, is to help people understand that despite religious, cultural or racial differences, most human share a common thread, a belief in a higher power.
In one segment of the film, a recovering heroin addict shares her struggles and the calling that allowed her to leave that life behind.
