The Cathedral of St. Peter Altar Society will hold a Women’s Lenten Day of Reflection, Saturday, March 9, in the Parish Center at the Cathedral, 416 N. 14th St, Kansas City, Kan. Sister Therese Steiner, a member of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, will present, “A Woman’s Journey of Faith through Scripture – St. Therese and the Little Way.” The day will begin at 8:15 a.m. with Mass, and will conclude at noon. The Cathedral of St. Peter, 409 N. 15th St., Kansas City, Kan., is holding a St. Joseph Table and Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, March 10. The table will be blessed after the 11 a.m. Mass. Homemade baked items, wine, fruit baskets and religious items from the table will be available for purchase. The Spaghetti Dinner will be served from noon to 3 p.m. Freewill donations are accepted.
The Christ the King Catholic School auction was rescheduled because of the weather and will now be held Friday, March 8, at the Kansas National Guard Armory. The doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner is at 6 p.m. For ticket information, call 913-302-5117. The event is for persons 21 and older. The Wyco Solos will attend the 9:30 a.m. Mass together on Sunday, March 10, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd, in celebration of its 30th anniversary. A catered luncheon will follow in Davern Hall.
Grandview Christian Church, 8550 Parallel Parkway, is collecting canned goods for Help 3:17, a local food pantry. The church is holding a bingo night from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 8. The church also is holding a coffee and doughnuts time from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., before the Sunday morning worship service.
Judson Baptist Church, 8300 State Ave., is planning the church’s 52nd birthday party following the 11 a.m. service March 17. The event includes a cake-baking contest, potluck dinner, and entertainment by Prairie Praise.
Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., KCK, will present Holy Woman, Mary Magdalene from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 14. St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th, is holding a fish dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. each Friday of Lent in the Parish Center. The cost of the dinner is $8 to $10 per person; carryout is available. A family price is available. Baked cod, fried catfish, boiled shrimp, fried shrimp, and mac and cheese are available. Side dishes, dessert and drink are included.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., will observe the Stations of the Cross at 6 p.m. Friday, March 8. Refreshments will be served afterward in the parish hall.
Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th, is planning its annual Easter Egg hunt for toddlers through fifth-graders at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at the church park. Those attending should bring their own baskets. The event will be moved indoors in case of inclement weather.
White Church Christian Church, 2200 N. 85th, (one block north of Parallel Parkway), will have a board meeting on March 17. Holy Week (March 21 through 24) will be observed starting with Maundy Thursday services at 6:30 p.m., Good Friday services at 6:30 p.m., a 24-hour prayer vigil starting on Saturday at 8 a.m., ending at 8 a.m. with Sunday’s Sunrise Service. A continental breakfast will be served afterwards.
Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave., will hold a Women’s Bible Study at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Monthly Christian Movie Night will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 8, in the Wyandotte UMC sanctuary, 7901 Oakland Ave. The movie is “Not a Fan.” It is for ages 13 and older. Free salsa lessons are offered from 3 to 4 p.m. each Saturday in March at Wyandotte UMC. The United Methodist Women at Wyandotte UMC are sponsoring a chili and soup supper with homemade desserts from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16. A freewill offering will be received. Proceeds will benefit the missions.
Zion United Church of Christ will hold a Girl Scout Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, March 10, at the church, 2711 N. 72nd. The cost is $5 per person, with those under 3 free. After the breakfast, the church will celebrate Girl Scout Sunday with a service at 10:45 a.m. Proceeds from the breakfast will go toward day camp.
