The Knights of Columbus, Marian Council 3768, are sponsoring a concert by the Hrvatski Obicaj Tamburasi, Croatian tamburitza music, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Davern Hall, 3024 N. 53rd St. A suggested donation of $10 will be requested, which will be donated to St. Joseph’s orphanage in Croatia, and deducted from a purchase of Don Wolf’s book, “Croatian Love Story.” At 2 p.m., Wolf will give a slide presentation about his book, focused on Croatian immigrants to Kansas City, Kan., their struggles and joys in living in an ethnic neighborhood and reconnecting with Croatians in the old country.
Edwardsville United Methodist Church Second Saturday Supper is from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at 302 N. 4th St., Edwardsville. Chili and vegetable soup will be served, as well as salads, desserts and drinks. Suggested donations are $8 for adults and $4 for children.
Grandview Christian Church, 8550 Parallel Parkway, is collecting canned goods for Help 3:17, a local food pantry.
The Asante Children's Choir from Eastern Africa will be performing at 10 a.m. Feb. 9 at Living Water United Methodist Church, 3001 N. 115th. The concert is free and open to all. The children will perform traditional African music, drum music, and dance. The choir is made up of 20 children from East Africa (ages 7-15).
Open Door Christian School, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, will hold a chili supper and silent auction from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7. Tickets are $8 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under, and $20 for a family pass for four. Kids younger than 4 eat free.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., recently elected vestry members at the parish annual meeting Sunday, Jan. 26. They are Joe Steineger III, senior warden; Rich Lavin, treasurer; Joe Diaz, youth ministry warden; Laura Diaz, Hispanic evangelism and communications warden; Karyn Walden-Forest, website and communications warden; Ross Warnell, Christian formation and ministry development warden; Ann Hill, clerk; and Joy Spearman.
