Holy Family Catholic Church, 274 Orchard St., Kansas City, Kan., will hold its fifth annual Slovenefest beginning after the 4 p.m. Mass on Sept. 28. Festivities will follow from 5 to 10 p.m. at Mejak Hall, Gym and School Grounds, 513 Ohio, Kansas City, Kan. Included are an authentic Slovenian dinner, big silent auction, children and adult games, cultural booth and souvenirs. Music and dancing will be featured with The Don Lipovac Orchestra with Brian McCarty and Hrvatski Obicaj. All proceeds will benefit Holy Family Church. The youth group at Judson Baptist Church, 8300 State Ave., plans a volunteer day on Saturday, Sept. 28, in the community. This week, the youth group plans to go to a family entertainment center.
The Our Lady and St. Rose Catholic Church Gospel Choir Concert will take place at 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at the church, 2300 N. 8th.
St. Mary – St. Anthony Church, 615 N. 7th St., will hold a fall afternoon of bingo and fun starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Bishop Forst Hall. A $5 ticket admission will receive a bingo card, desserts, popcorn and coffee. Beer and soda will be available for purchase. Trinity Community Church, 5010 Parallel Parkway, is beginning a new program. Sunday School for children and youth will now be part of the worship hour at 10:30 a.m. Adult Sunday School will continue at 9 a.m. All are welcome.
After a successful Salad Supper held by the Christian Women’s Fellowship, the White Church Christian Church elders had another Bravo appearance and skit. The church, one block north of Parallel Parkway at 2200 N. 85th St., is continuing this year's celebration of being the oldest Christian church in this area with a new Bible Study group that meets at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. The church is looking forward to CWF's bazaar on Oct. 4 and 5. The public is invited.
Wolcott Baptist Church, 10601 Hutton Road, has renewed its ministry partnership with the Vineyard Church. Vineyard Church offers contemporary worship Sundays at 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. while Wolcott Baptist offers traditional worship at 11 a.m. Together Wolcott Baptist and Vineyard Church seek to meet the spiritual needs of the young and old through a variety of worship styles in a relaxed, casual atmosphere.
Several programs are being offered at Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave. An all-church breakfast is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. A community picnic is planned at noon Sunday, Sept. 29. The potluck picnic will include volleyball, softball and outdoor games.
Crafts, baked goods, and food will be available and there will be a rummage sale at the Fall Craft Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 5 at Zion United Church of Christ, 2711 N. 72nd. The event is open to the public.
