The SociaLights at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., are sponsoring the annual chili cookoff and dinner after the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, Jan. 26. There will be a contest awarding prizes for the best chili. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 and younger. Takeout is available. Christ the King School is planning its 10th annual auction with dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the National Guard Armory, 18th and Ridge. For information, call 913-287-8883.
A Deacon’s Meeting is planned at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Judson Baptist Church, 8300 State Ave. The Judson Youth Gathering is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6.
Living Water United Methodist Church, 3001 N. 115th St., will hold a Cabin Fever Carnival for the community from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26. This is a free event. Carnival games, inflatables, cotton candy, cake walk, and prizes are part of the event. It is open to the public.
Open Door Christian School plans a chili dinner and silent auction at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the Open Door Baptist Church gymnasium, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace.
A Mardi Gras Dinner and Dance will benefit Our Lady and St. Rose Catholic Church. The dinner will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 2, followed by the dance at 8 p.m. to midnight Feb. 2 at the Blessed Sacrament Family Center, 2215 Parallel Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The menu includes seafood gumbo, seafood jambalaya and red beans and rice. Dinner tickets are $12. There also will be bingo and a silent auction. Dance tickets are $15.
A spaghetti dinner to benefit the Sisters, Servants of Mary, will be from 11 a.m. to 4 pm. Sunday, Feb. 3, at St. Patrick Catholic Church Parish Center, 94th and State Avenue, Kansas City, Kan. A donation of $8 for adults and $3 for children is requested. The meal includes Italian sausage, meatballs and spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Carryouts are available. St. Mary – St. Anthony Catholic Church, 615 N. 7th St., will hold a Sweetheart Bingo afternoon starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in Bishop Forst Hall. Admission is $5, and includes a bingo card, desserts, popcorn and coffee. Beer and soda will be available for purchase. St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., will observe the third Sunday in Epiphany Jan. 27. The parish annual meeting will follow the service; a luncheon will be served.
White Church Christian Church, 2200 N. 85th St., is the host of the Piper Seniors Luncheon, a monthly event. It is held at noon every first Wednesday of the month, including Feb. 6. Anyone 55 and older may attend, and are asked to bring a covered dish. The featured game will be Bingo. A Bible Study meets at 6 p.m. each Wednesday. A light dinner will be served.
Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland, is sponsoring a free Christian Family Movie Night from 7 to 9 p.m. each Friday in January, open to the public. On Jan. 25, the film is “A Vow to Cherish,” is about a family facing a tragedy, and it explores the meaning of commitment. The movies are for the entire family and are from the Billy Graham Association. There will be free popcorn and pop, and a freewill donation will be accepted. Also, free salsa lessons continue from 3 to 4 p.m. each Saturday in January at Wyandotte UMC.
