The Altar Society at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., will meet for the May luncheon at noon Monday, May 20, in the Good Shepherd Room of Davern Hall at the church. Members will bring side dishes or a dessert.
Grandview Christian Church, 8550 Parallel Parkway, is collecting canned goods for Help 3:17, a local food pantry. The church will have coffee and doughnuts from 10 a.m. until the worship service time of 10:45 a.m. each Sunday morning at Kussman Hall.
Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, will recognize graduates at the 10:30 a.m. service May 19. A reception will follow the service. Open Door is planning the Kingdom Rock Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 9 to 13.
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, which has been meeting at Zion United Church of Christ, 2711 N. 72nd St., will have its final service at 10:45 a.m. May 19. Prince of Peace will close after 57 years of service to the community. Synod leaders and the bishop’s staff are expected to attend the final service. A reception will be held after the service.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., will observe Pentecost at its 10 a.m. service Sunday, May 19.
White Church Christian Church, 1 block north of Parallel Parkway at 2200 N. 85th St., will have a special guest speaker at the Breakfast Club at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18. A pastor from Nairobi, Kenya, will be relating some of his duties as a Christian missionary to the United States and as a counselor to Kenyans who live here. The club will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The hall also will be the site for the Spring Banquet on Tuesday, May 21. For tickets call the church office at 913-299-4056. Wednesday's Bible Study group and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.
Several programs are being offered at Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave. Free salsa dancing lessons led by Orlando Gallardo will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Wyandotte United Methodist Church.
