Grandview Christian Church, 8550 Parallel Parkway, is collecting canned goods for Help 3:17, a local food pantry. The church will have coffee and doughnuts from 10 a.m. until the worship service time of 10:45 a.m. each Sunday morning at Kussman Hall.
“Vatican II – the Times, the Man, and the Lasting Legacy,” is a free four-part series to be presented by Jennifer Greene, pastoral minister, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, April 3 - 24, at Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., KCK, will present “Holy Woman, Flannery O’Connor,” from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 11. Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, plans a Spring Fest Banquet held by the Ladies Bible Study from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, in the church dining room. Advance reservations are required. The church’s monthly potluck dinner will be after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service April 14 in the church dining room.
The Rev. Dennis L. Douglas, pastor, and Alfredia Douglas will be honored for their two-year anniversary at 7 p.m. April 11 and 12, and at a celebration service at 4 p.m. April 14 at Resurrection Life Family Worship Center, 6660 Leavenworth Road.
A 3-mile Hope to Shalom Walk will be a prayer walk for an end to violence. The walk will from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, starting at Sanctuary of Hope, 2601 Ridge, along 18th Street, and ending at Shalom House Men’s Shelter at 13th and Parallel. There will be stops along the way for prayer.
Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th, will hold a clothing workday for the StoreHouse at 2 p.m. April 12. The StoreHouse provides food and clothes for those who need it.
A chili dinner and bingo will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in the St. Patrick Catholic Parish Center, 94th and State. The menu includes chili, baked potatoes and hot dogs. The donation is $8 for adults and $ for children.
Members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., including the Rev. Dixie Roberts Junk, the priest-in-charge, will attend a women's summit Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20, at St. James Episcopal Church, Wichita. The theme of the meeting will be "Women and girls: made in the image of God."
