A nine-week Financial Peace University course will be held beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Bristol Hill United Methodist Church, 4826 County Line Road, Kansas City, Kan. The course is taught by Dave Ramsey on DVD. The course teaches people how to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success. The course meets once a week, and covers budgeting, relationships and money, getting out of debt, saving for emergencies and investing. Edwardsville United Methodist Church, 302 N. 4th St., Edwardsville, Kan., will hold a Second Saturday Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14. Turkey pot pie, salads, desserts and drinks will be served. Donations requested are $7 for adults and $3 for children.
A spaghetti dinner to benefit the Sisters, Servants of Mary, will be from 11 a.m. to 4 pm. Sunday, Feb. 3, at St. Patrick Catholic Church Parish Center, 94th and State Avenue, Kansas City, Kan. A donation of $8 for adults and $3 for children is requested. The meal includes Italian sausage, meatballs and spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Carryouts are available. Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th, plans a Chili Cook-off all day on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Cole Activity Center.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., will observe the second Sunday in Epiphany at its 10 a.m. service Jan. 13.
White Church Christian Church, 2200 N. 85th St., will hold a board meeting following the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Jan. 20. A Bible Study meets at 6 p.m. each Wednesday. A light dinner will be served.
Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland, is sponsoring a free Christian Family Movie Night from 7 to 9 p.m. each Friday in January, open to the public. On Jan. 11, the film is “The Climb,” about two men, one who seeks God and the other who relies on his own strength. The movies are for the entire family and are from the Billy Graham Association. There will be free popcorn and pop, and a freewill donation will be accepted. Trustees at Wyandotte UMC will serve breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Jan. 26.
