K-32 Kansas River bridge repair project to begin today

   A project to repair the K-32 bridge spanning the Kansas River in Wyandotte County, just west of the 18th Street Expressway, is scheduled to begin about 8:30 a.m. Sept. 7.
   The projects includes the replacement of expansion joints on the bridge deck. The first phase of construction will place traffic on the south half of the bridge while repairs are completed on the north half, and then traffic will shift to the north half.
   Work will take place daily, Monday through Friday, and some Saturdays, during daylight hours only.
   Advance message board will alert traffic to the lane closures. Drivers should expect delays. Lane closure information is at www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.
    Comanche Construction Co. Inc. is the primary contractor on this $83,146 bridge repair project.  The scheduled completion date for this bridge repair project is mid-October 2010.
