Resident wins $20,000 in lottery
Last week, while on her way to visit her son-in-law, Tim, at the hospital, Sharon Hall of Kansas City, Kan., picked up a couple of $2 Bonus Crossword instant scratch tickets. As she was visiting with Tim, Hall scratched her tickets. Much to her surprise, she revealed all 10 words on one of the games, winning a $20,000 top prize.
“I’ve had really good luck playing Bonus Crossword,” Hall said. “I won $2,000 a month ago and had actually thought I had won $2,000 again. Tim always looks over my tickets when I’m done scratching them and he’s the one who realized I had won $20,000. After he looked it over, he looked at me with a grin and said, ‘I think you won $20,000 not $2,000!’ We were so surprised.”
According to Hall, winning $20,000 came at a great time.
“I just moved to a farm with my daughter,” Hall said. “We decided to go green, so we’re making several changes to our home. My daughter is going to ‘chicken school’ to learn how to raise chickens and we want a new barbecue grill. Plus, I have several bills to pay, so winning couldn’t have come at a better time.”
Hall, who is retired, has three daughters, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The winning ticket was purchased at QuikTrip 157, at 7400 W. 63rd St. in Overland Park.
