Aislin Reynolds is one of the top guns on the Wyandotte County Shooting Sports team. She was recognized at the Jan. 19 Unified Government meeting for taking the individual first-place medal at the 4-H Nationals in small-bore rifle last June in San Antonio, Texas. She scored 594 points out of 600. The national record is 595. (Staff photo)
Wyandotte County again has produced some top guns with their sights set on taking state and national shooting championships.
Ron Letcher, who has helped with the team for years, said the team recently came back from Wichita, where it took a first-place trophy in BB gun, first in air rifle and first in air pistol. About 30 students attended from Wyandotte County, he said.
They now qualify to be invited to go to the state tournament, he said.
The Wyandotte County 4-H shooting sports team has a history of winning. The last two years, the team has placed sixth in a national tournament, Letcher said.
