Labor Day activities scheduled


   Many public offices, such as the Unified Government, are closed on Labor Day, Sept. 6, and schools also are not in session.
   But there are still some activities going on for residents to enjoy:

Final ‘Live at Legends’ concert on Labor Day
   
The final concert in the free “Live at the Legends” concert series will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 6 at The Legends at Village West, in the fountain courtyard area. Lipriddle, an indie, alternative and current rock band, will perform. Concertgoers may bring lawn chairs.

Labor Day picnic planned

   The Greater Kansas City Labor Day Parade and Community Picnic will begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 6 at Liberty Memorial Drive and Main Street, Kansas City, Mo. A community picnic will follow the parade. For more information, visit www.labordayparade.org.

The Renaissance Festival is open Labor Day
   
The Renaissance Festival opens Sept. 4 and runs through Oct. 17 at 126th and State, Bonner Springs. It is open Labor Day. A 16th century English village comes to life with entertainment, food, fun and activities for the family. The theme of the first weekend is Tales of the Scheherazade. The event is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends. The admission charge is $18.95 for adults, $16.50 for senior citizens, $9.95 for children 5 to 12 years old. Advance tickets are discounted. Schlitterbahn closing out season
   The Schlitterbahn water park at 94th and State is closing out its season Sept. 6. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.schlitterbahn.com.
