Armourdale has been privileged to be the community that is the home of the Lipari Thriftway Grocery Store, 800 Kansas Ave. The Lipari family located here 58 years ago. This is a wonderful family that genuinely cares about the community.
Matthew is a grandson of Pam and John Lipari. He will be the fourth generation of the family to become a sacker this summer at the store. Pam will be the guest speaker on Tuesday June 4, at the Armourdale Optimist Club. The Liparis have been members of the club for 30 years.
There are many reasons to trade with the Lipari Thriftway. One of my favorite reasons is that the sackers are friendly and helpful. They carry out your groceries and always bring the basket back inside the store. There are never grocery baskets rolling all over the parking lot. Another reason is the nice surprise when something you buy is on the “inside the store sale.”
The employees are also the pride of Armourdale. Mary (in the office) has been there 45 years, Betty and Debbie the cashiers are not too far behind. Tony Gutierrez, the butcher in the meat department, is working on his 23rd year. His son Luciano is one of Armourdale’s finest. He was on the former Armourdale Clean Team as a teenager, also a recipient of one of Armoudale Renewal’s Scholarship program. Luciano now owns his own heating and cooling company. If you need references just ask the store owners about his work on their store. His company is called “ONAICUL” contact number is 913-568-0174. He still fills in anywhere in the store when needed. We know Tony is a proud father.
Whenever asked, the store donates to all our Armourdale business or Optimist luncheons with gift certificates and products for our drawings. When we say a business is “dear to our hearts” in Armourdale we really mean it. If you would just remember to shop with this family, you will be pleasantly surprised. If you wish to hear Pam Lipari speak at the Optimist club on June 4, call Kim at 913-371-5696 for details.
