Daylight savings time has arrived. This is a rite of spring and that means getting outside and working in the garden. It also means prom season, volunteer appreciation, and enjoying the outdoors. For the volunteer, the opportunities are many.

Cross-Lines has two spring-related events. One is the Prom Clothes Give-Away. They need new or gently used contemporary prom dresses and men’s suits. Size 12+ are in great need this year. Please drop off the prom clothes by March 22 at Cross-Lines at 732 Shawnee, Kansas City, Kan. The other event is the annual Plant Sale. Volunteers are needed to help with the sale May 1 through May 4. Contact Amber at 913-281-3388 to volunteer for the Plant Sale.

Cultivate KC gives you a chance to get your hands dirty, have fun and learn a bit about organic farming. Upcoming opportunities at the Gibbs Road Farm are from 9 a.m. to noon March 23, April 13, and April 27. You can register to volunteer at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0D44AFA72FA57-work. If you have questions, contact Ami at ami@cultivatekc.org.

United Way of Wyandotte County is recruiting volunteers to help pack goodie bags for a  volunteer appreciation on March 20th from 10am to 2pm. This is a great opportunity for students on spring break who need service hours. Volunteers will be treated to lunch. To volunteer, contact Diane at dhentges@unitedway-wyco.org or at 913-371-3674, ext 1308.

KCK Huggers-Special Olympics is looking to recruit volunteers to help with a Color Me Rad 5K race on April 13 at Wyandotte County Park. Volunteers must to at least 14 years of age. You can select shifts the day of the event or help prepare for the race. A volunteer can help put packets together, work registration, help with water and snacks, or be a color bomber to name just a few of the jobs available. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Ann at 913-573-8331 or at aphillips@wycokck.org.
