Wyandotte County had 617 new business filings in 2012, according to a report from the Kansas secretary of state’s office.
The increase of 109 new domestic business filings over 2011 represents a 21.4 percent increase in new filings during the past year, according to figures in the Business Formation Report.
The figures for 2012 were the highest in the past 10 years. Some of the past years in Wyandotte County included 388 new business filings in 2003; 516 in 2004; 478 in 2005; 475 in 2006; 525 in 2007; 488 in 2008; 530 in 2009; 480 in 2010; and 508 in 2011.
The number of new business filings also was up considerably in the northeast region in Kansas, as well as statewide, according to the report.
The data includes only registered entities doing business in Kansas, including corporations, limited liability companies and limited partnerships. It does not include sole proprietorships or general partnerships, which are not filed with the secretary of state’s office.
