Casino restaurant award
Hollywood Casino’s Final Cut Steakhouse has received the national Award of Excellence this month from Wine Spectator magazine.
The magazine recently announced its 2013 Restaurant Wine List Awards and Final Cut at the Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, Kansas City, Kan., was one of several Kansas City area fine restaurants to receive the Award of Excellence.
Listed among other top-notch restaurants around the world, the Final Cut is in its first full year and it is the first year the restaurant has made the list.
"We are extremely excited to be honored alongside these other fine restaurants for this award," said executive chef James White, who oversees Final Cut Steakhouse as well as all of the restaurants at Hollywood Casino. "Our wine list is something for which we are especially proud at Final Cut. We work very hard to make each customer comfortable with the wine offering as well as the selection process."
The restaurant provides an iPad wine menu for all diners to review the wine list as well as wine notes and wine descriptions at the table.
To celebrate the Award of Excellence, Final Cut Steakhouse Chef Nick Estell has created a Dueling Wine Dinner complete with wine pairings for each course. Diners are invited to sit back and enjoy a delicious, fun and informative evening of culinary and wine knowledge.
The Dueling Wine Dinner is from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18. The cost is $65 per person. Reservations are being accepted. The menu for that meal includes hearts of palm salad, seared veal sweetbreads, American kobe hanging tender mushrooms, and pistachio gelato.
